Welsh Athletes’ Information and Recipe Cards

Introduction to module

We recently partnered with Welsh Athletics, working with a host of elite Welsh athletes to highlight the importance of eating a balanced diet, that includes Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef. Together with Adele Nicoll (bobsleigh and shot-put), Hannah Brier (sprinter), Aled Davies (discus and shot-put) and Osian Jones (hammer-throw), we created a series of Information and Recipe cards outlining their achievements, the importance of eating a balanced diet and featuring their favourite Welsh Lamb or Welsh Beef recipe.

Suggested Classroom Activities

  • Encourage pupils to research the diet of a professional athlete, focusing on important nutrients and how to achieve a balanced diet, based on the chosen athletes’ sport. Ask students to produce a PowerPoint presentation to show their research
  • Research the diet of a professional athlete and ask students to create a recipe for their chosen athlete
